Laser replacement

Postby Roslyn » Thu Apr 08, 2010 3:00 pm

Three times now the laser light has broken off the cord, it is very fragile, DH repaired it twice but does anyone know of a better replacement laser/ I use it so very seldom that I hate to pay $150 or whatever for a new one that will probably break again!

an easy and cheap replacement is the non-hardwired laser.
You can get them for about $6 at the hardware store. you can masking tape them to the pointer (L-shaped pointed thing that came with your machine....it has threads on one end) You can also use the pointer for a laser. Works great for the few times you need it.

laser replacement

I was thinking about the battery operated lasers, & I think that's what I'll do Megan. I just wondered if anyone had a line on the hard wired laser that wasn't SO expensive.

If you go to MQ Resource- under machine maintenance, A-1 Laser Light Fix - June 18, 2009, there is a gal there Shelley Sieverkropp, who's daughter has manufactured a little box for the laser to be housed in, no more bent wiring or pulling out of the wires.. check it out, I know a few people who got it and love it.

Laser replacement

Postby Nancy-Jane » Sun Jul 25, 2010 8:31 pm

I purchased a battery operated little blue laser light from Grace Company for $49.00. It fits on the A-1 just fine. The laser light reflected on the plastic overlay for the pantographs so a primary and a secondary dot appeared. I used a permanent black marker and painted the little plastic cover for the laser dot. It solved the problem. It is a great and relatively inexpensive solution. You just have to remember to turn it off when you are finished or you will go through the 2 double A batteries a little faster.
